Since taking the program over in 2008, Coach Leonard has led the Dragons to ten 5A/6A state cross country championships (13 state championships- including 3 as an assistant), eleven state runner ups, five third place state team finishes, seventeen regional championships, and twenty-three district championships. Coach Leonard’s boys teams have won 6 state cross country championships (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2019 & 2020) and his girls teams have won 4 state cross country championships (2011, 2012, 2013 & 2019). Coach Leonard’s Carroll Dragons won the Nike National Cross Country award for the number one program in the nation for their 2011
& 2012 seasons. During Leonard’s tenure the Dragons have qualified for 26 trips to the Nike Cross Nationals with a boys’ runner-up finish in 2011 and a girls’ runner-up finish in 2012.  Coach Leonard’s program has produced a Footlocker National Championship individual, a sub-four-minute miler (4th fastest in U.S. high school history), a 3200m state meet record, 46 individual state medalists (5 state champs & 10 state runner-ups), 5 Nike National All Americans, 3 Footlocker National qualifiers, 83 Division 1 runners, and State XC low-point records for boys (20 points in 2011) and girls (32 points in 2012).
