Katya Muller Winslow excelled during four years of varsity softball and golf for the Lady Dragons. She saw her teams capture seven District Championships across the two sports. In softball, the shortstop’s district accolades included Newcomer of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and First Team All-District during her junior and senior campaigns. She concluded her prep career in 2004 with a .357 batting average and 55 stolen bases. As a golfer, she served as district Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-District during her sophomore and junior seasons. Katya won one tournament individually with a one-over 72 and placed in the top-10 twice at Regionals.
Her softball career carried on at the University of North Texas. Upon graduation in 2008, she held five UNT career records and ranked second in an additional eight categories. As of 2022, she is listed as the program’s all-time leader in triples and bats. Katya was also a four-year member of UNT’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and served as President her senior year. She was inducted into the University of North Texas Athletic Hall of Fame in 2020.
A coach at heart, in her post-college days, she mentored select softball players and worked at a youth golf academy. Today, Katya is the happy mom of two boys, Calvin and Miles, and a proud wife to Dan, a geologist in the oil and gas industry. Katya currently works in basketball acquisitions for Panini America, a trading card company.
