District MVP, All-Area, State MVP and 1st Team All State. Shelly graduated from CHS in 1998 with a full-ride Volleyball scholarship to the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. Her career there was also impressive. In 2002, Shelly became just the second Crimson Tide student-athlete to make one of the Academic All-American squads. She led the team in blocks (and set a record with 438 blocks in one season, which was not broken until 2017) all while maintaining a 4.00 GPA in Criminal Justice. As a senior, Shelly was a three-time Academic All-SEC honoree and was twice selected to the Verizon Academic All-District Team.
